    I have mine in 308win 20in barrel and #3 contour. Awesome shooting rifle. Took 2 deer this year with it. Loves the 175gr Sierra MK-X bullet. Couldn’t be happier.

    I have the 257 wthby mag and simply love it. I couldn’t afford the walnut stock which i love. All of my hunting rifles but 3 have walnut stocks I hate synthetic with a passion im 73 and old fashioned and wood makes the gun next to accurate. Anyway its a laser and has a pretty good recoil. I recommend it fully.

    I own several Weatherby rifles from Mark Vs, 307s and Vanguards as well as many full Customs, Sakos, Tikkas, Brownings, Ruger M77s, Legendary Arms, MG Arms, HairTrigger customs…etc and I have and always will say that the Vanguards are the best rifle for the money today! Accuracy, reliability, fit and function and not to mention the best calibers in the world! I wanted another 6.5-300 Wby mag for a do it all hunting rifle with zero limitations… ordered the 6.5-300 in the Black Hills and spent the first following day installing a new Steiner Predator 4s 4-16×44 in Seekins rings and then zeroed for 200yds while breaking in the barrel with several cleaning intervals between groups. At days end the Barnes 127gr were shooting .75 Myards. 100 ydsand ringing steel at dusk at 300+ yrds. The day after Christmas I had about an hour so I slipped into a small tract I of family land in which only I hunt. There are big bucks there and 1 true shooter that showed up 5 days earlier and I had been infatuated with so I didn’t wanna chance one making it off the property so I carried the new black hills 6.5-300. Hunt latest 30 minutes tops. Doe came in then 5 minutes later I see his 8pt rack slow bobbing through the ticket. He walked out to scent check my buck scrape ripper and I squeezed the trigger to hear the all titi well known “click”..lol… Sooooo I quietly manipulated a round and the next trigger squeeze sent that 127gr Barnes through his right ribs, heart and both lungs and out the left rib cage and into a pine tree at 3500+fps! Literally flatten him, him rolled over 1 time, got his feet under him for 1 lunge forward and fell again for good. I have shot Weatherby rifles for 30 of my 49 years and will shoot them all my life God willing… Accuracy is paramount and Speed kills, and Weatherbys harness the best of both!

    Just picked up a Weatherby Vanguard Blackhills for my 9 Year old Grandson in 6.5 Creedmore. He’s been shooting his sister’s rifle to harvest his first deer, doe, and first buck this year. He is in love with my Weatherby Mark V in .257 Mag, and I really wanted to get him the 257, but it had a pretty considerable wait time and I wouldn’t have been able to give it to him for Christmas. I really like the feel of the Blackhills, enough that I think I’m gonna get myself one in 6.5-300. Appears to be a very well made Weapon. I wanted to give him a rifle that he could pass down to his grandson, and I think this will be the one.
    Will update the review after he shoots it but I have had several Weatherby over the years and it appears that it will live up to the Weatherby Reputation.

    I want less…and more. I would rather have a Vanguard Obsidian with black stock and no mounts or rails at all. Just a set of good factory iron sights. Like good guns used to have.

    Got the black hills in 25-06 Rem. It is a little finicky. Tried several different factory loads it liked the Federal fusion 120 grains best averaged just under 1 moa. Worked up a load with Nosler 115 ballistic tips less than half moa. Great rifle

    Think Weatherby makes a terrific rifle. Have a Vanguard in .243 and it’s a great shooter. Going to order the new Black Hills model in 7mm-08

    The first thing you’ll notice about the Vanguard Talon, aside from Weatherby’s legendary fit and finish, is the stock. The Talon is equipped with a carbon fiber Peak 44™ Blacktooth™ stock, the same stock we use on the Backcountry Ti 2.0.
